After a busy day running two fire alarms in the first due Engine Company 9 was dispatched to the unit block of High Street, Sharon Hill for reported smoke coming from the dwelling. Engine 9-2 hit the streets in seconds with 4 and was quickly advised by Ambulance 04-7B they had heavy smoke showing. Through the hard-work and dedication of several members the Sharon Hill Fire Company was able to secure well over $315,000 of funding. The funds came from both State and Federal Government agencies. From the Pennsylvania's Office for the State Fire Commissioner we recieved close to $12,000 for a new thermal imager to improve our firefighting abilities and allow one thermal imager per Engine the Sharon Hill Fire Co. currently operates. Just before 8pm while clearing an Automatic Fire Alarm in Glenolden Company 9 was dispatched for a reported house fire in the 1200 Block of Noblet in Darby Township. This afternoon while crews were enjoying the nice afternoon weather the Full assignment was struck out for a reported Gas Leak in Glenolden. The incident reported in the 300 block of S Chester Pike brought up Companies 05 (Glenolden), 09 (Sharon Hill), and 01 (Folcroft) as well as EMS units. Early in the morning around 4:30am Engine 09-2 was dispatched to relocate to Station 71 (Chester Heights) for a cover up. Engine 9-2 with 7 from the overnight crew quickly marked up leaving an additional crew back at the station to staff an additional Engine. This afternoon crews were alerted for a reported CO Alarm activation on Garvin Blvd, Sharon Hill. On the ticket was Company 9 and Mercy EMS units. Engine 9-2 and 9-1 quickly made the response along with Chief 9 (Benecke). A total of 11 firefighters operated on scene, utilizing Multi Gas meters to determine the source of the alarm was actually the low battery alarm. The Phrase "The Big Three" refers to the Glenolden (05), Folcroft (01), and Sharon Hill (09) Fire Companies. All Three Companies work together to train and respond to emergencies together as a collective professional department despite being three seperate organizations.
